The tale of two campaigns… a true David and Goliath story unfolding right in the heart of South Dakota this election season.
The NO on RL21 campaign is grassroots to its core, with South Dakotans locking arms together to lift the heavy load of standing up for ourselves against the powerful, politically-connected establishment elite.
Money for our efforts is gathered in $10 and $20 donations. There’s no partisanship and no big money donors. Just good people trying to do what is right for their families and their neighbors. Notably a pie auction garnered $10,000 up in Aberdeen this fall, with every homemade pie selling for $100-200, all for the good of the cause to protect our private property rights and safeguard our local governance.
Meanwhile on the other side, the heavy hand of blind corporate greed presses its boot down on the necks of the people. Forget the family farms and ranches. Forget the small communities. Forget 135 years of tradition. Ignore the pleas of the people who just want to be left alone, to build their own idea of the American dream in South Dakota.
The proponents of RL-21 you see on the TV in their well-produced ads running morning and night, they don’t care about any of that. Turns out, it’s a well-oiled machine on this side of the coin. The Yes on RL21 folks are heavily-financed, well-connected, and are throwing millions of dollars to beat down the humble and hard-working people of this state — hardened to take away our private property rights and local control, in order to line their own pockets.
FOLLOW THE MONEY! This finance report says it all…. https://sdcfr.sdsos.gov/Document.aspx?DocumentID=93521…
1 million from POET, $400,000 from Glacial Lakes, another $200,000 from Gevo, and MORE to push this shady backroom deal through and force a dangerous carbon pipeline project onto our land!
No matter how much money they spend to spin this bill in their favor and twist the truth, one thing we can guarantee to you from our citizen-led effort is this: We will always champion for agriculture. We will always stand up for the people of South Dakota. We may not have the big money, but we have heart and grit and no quit in our bones, and we ask you to please join us in voting NO on RL21!
